Operation Christmas Child

Great news! I just got my free brochures for Operation Christmas Child and I'm overly excited to start handing them out. If you don't know, OCC is a project of Samaritan's Purse a ministry of Franklin Graham. Every year they collect shoe boxes filled with gifts and deliver them to needy children around the world.

The shoe boxes are incredibly easy to make and cost very little. Usually dollar store items like toothpaste, toy cars, socks and other things are more than enough to light up a child's face on Christmas in some of the 3rd world countries that this project visits.

I ordered 40 brochures on the website (completely free) and intend to hand out 20 to friends, neighbors and the like. My boyfriend plans to hand out the other 20. This is a great way to show love by helping a great organization by just getting people to make boxes or by making a box yourself. My goal is to make 4 (2 boys and 2 girls).

You can check out the website here for drop off locations in your area. The drop off dates are between November 16-23. I hope everyone gets a chance to make a box. Happy loving!

$20 Tips of Love

Quick update: Another $20 tip was given to an anonymous waiter at Casa Sol Mexican Restaurant in San Antonio, TX. This time we waited outside the restaurant and watched our waiter's reaction to his love gift. It was great watching him skip off to the register to excitedly present the tip to his co-workers. Love mission happily accomplished.

Upcoming mission: Operation McDonald's
We came up with the idea of buying about five $5 gift cards from McDonald's and handing them out to people in need that we encounter on the streets. Attached to each card will be a tract of some sort. I found them for about 20 cents each at Lifeway Christian Store. I'm excited about getting the gospel out along with the giving. So stayed tuned for that!

Update & Seed-A-Need!

Hello All! I've been MIA for awhile, but have no fear un-reported Love Missions have been executed successfully. Just yesterday my boyfriend and I left a lovely waitress a $20 tip along with one of my seed-a-need cards. It felt great, especially because we waited for service overly long...so I am sure it was very unexpected.

I've also been leaving packages of hand sanitizers around with Live 2 Love messages attached. I got this idea after roaming through the dollar store and noticing a package of two sanitizers for only $1! With all the H1N1 hoopla going on, I thought this would be a great gift for anyone to find. I always need hand sanitizer, but for some reason always forget to buy some.

Finally, I'm excited for this weekend because I have 2 seed-a-need cards left and some money to accomplish my missions. I have already decided to use one to pay for someone's meal behind me at a drive-thru and the other to pay for someones oil change. I'll write updates and post pictures of the missions once they have been executed.

That's all for now. Stay posted for more Live 2 Love updates. Until then, try to do something nice for someone today...it does more for the soul than chicken soup ever could ;)

Love Act #2: Give Kind Advice

I am a huge fan of yahoo answers. There is no better place (I think) to find people who have immediate needs, concerns and questions. There are plenty of topics and sub-topics that cover every area of life. My personal favorite happens to be family & relationships.

Today, I decided to venture over and help some fellow humans with their burning questions. I like to think I am a pretty good advice giver, and even if I lack a practical answer to their problem, I know that speaking the Word into their life does amazing things! Everyone can use a little positivity and support.

This love act is actually quite easy. Anyone can do it. It's pretty fun too. So if you are looking for a simple way to help someone today, get out there and start answering questions!

Love Act #1: Donate Clothes

I've had a closet full of clothes to give away for the longest time, but I never got around to figuring out where to donate. I really wanted to give it to a place that really really needed it, and I hadn't come up with anywhere until today.

I think I gathered up about 65 pieces of clothing, and since it is mostly girl clothes I decided to donate to Boysville of Texas. They have a thrift store program that goes towards funding clothing & scholarships for children at Boysville. I will be delivering them tomorrow. Yay for Love Act #1!

Seeking First the Kingdom

I must admit I do not have a lot to say on this first post. My heart and my focus is on serving. And even as I write this I feel slightly guilty for having spent so much time putting this blog together, time I could have spent sowing a random act of love. I really feel like I need to get started before my initial excitement runs out, so this is going to be short!

The mission is quite simple: Sow seeds of love into the lives of others and expectantly wait for an abundant harvest.

I have only recently realized how many ways I can bless others everyday through random acts of kindness that cost little to nothing. It's crazy to think how much time I have wasted praying for God to show me where to serve when the opportunities infront of me were endless.

Everyday I will endeavor to make love an action verb. And by that I mean that I will actually show love by doing something for someone. It's time for me to step out of my box and live love in action, not just in word and prayer.

The bible says that we are the body of Christ, and that we are to be the hands and feet of Jesus. That means physically showing the love of Christ through our deeds and actions. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out, but my how we get so easily distracted with our own lives!

My prayer had been, "Lord bless me so that I can bless others." But the Lord replied, "Bless others so that I may bless you." So that is my call, and this is my mission.
